Lifesavers
Sep. 17th, 2007 04:57 pmIt's sad to think that the last time I had lifesavers it was when the original flavors were still there. Orange, cherry, lemon, pineapple, and lime. I picked up a pack today - with "New Flavor" printed on it and came home to search out what the "new flavor" was. In fact, it's three, though some debate is to be had on that.
From what I gather the flavors are cherry, pineapple, blackberry, raspberry, and watermelon. Some people say that orange disappeared and came back, but it doesn't seem that my pack has orange in it - though I'm only two flavors in.
The first one I had was most definitely blackberry. I was a bit concerned when I first popped the purple piece of candy in my mouth, fully expecting it to be grape. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be blackberry - that's when I looked up the flavors. Next came a reddish looking one that I in turn popped in my mouth and was confused for a moment. I couldn't identify the flavor until something in my brain told me it tasted like a cough drop - oh, that means cherry, because I tend to only use cherry and honey flavored cough drops. Three more flavors to go and the next one looks like my beloved lime, but I'm guessing will watermelon - unless oranges suddenly turned green.
Who would have guessed that a 12 pack of candy would have suddenly become a flavor adventure. I'm still not sure how I feel about the blackberry, but that's okay. The rest, I'll have to wait and see. From what I gather Lifesavers were owned by Nabisco and then sold to Wrigley's in 2004. I learned a lot of useless information while looking up flavor information.
