Oct. 26th, 2005 12:00 pmI play the devil's advocate to often. I don't believe in giving people false hope, but I will make them doubt themselves enough to make them act. Sometimes I just stand by and watch people do their thing, even though I can see clearly that they are about to faceplant, because it's their life. Once in a while, I'll get freaked out enough that I think something should be done, and then just end up making myself more weirded out than helping the person that I wanted to.
This said, I want to thank all the people in my life. You've all shown me the right ways and the wrong ways to do stuff. I'm hard headed and sometimes don't listen, but for the most part, when someone faceplants, I get the picture. I don't want to say your pain is lessened, but know that I learned something from it, even if you didn't.
My life isn't perfect, but it's better than it was. I've grown a lot, more so since I left my former roommates place in 2001, but I learned a lot from her. No one is perfect. There will always be a tide of should have beens, but regret isn't the same. The past is gone, today is here, and we've got the future.
To the boys I know, that have gone through so much this past year, she's gone, it's time to move on. Your life is yours, no matter what happened before, who you loved, or what you did, you have to move on. In the long run, it isn't what she thought/thinks of you, it's what you think of you and what you decide to be.
Once again, thank you for the lessons taught, even if you didn't know you were the teacher.
