Been an interesting weekend...

Friday dawned warm and mildly gray, I stumbled about the house as E did some work from home. We then braved the mall to get clothing for his company Holiday Party. He looked awesome in new pinstriped pants, a charcoal gray shirt, black tie, and black vest. We don't need no stinkin' jacket! Finding something for me was a pain in the ass. After looking for almost two hours, I picked up a dress that looked horrible on the hanger and tried it on, lo and behold, it looked fantastic on.

We rushed back to the house, ran for the train, got on, and I realized I had left the dress I had toiled so long looking for on the damned couch. We took the train to the next stop, took the next train back, got the dress, and drove down to the city. I enjoyed the Marriott shower, put on my dress, applied my make up, and felt somewhat like a lady. We walked over to the Crystal Tea Room and began our evening.

There weren't many tables, but the food was excellent. Dessert was everything I hoped it would be, and I ate far too many little buttery chocolate tarts. Between the tarts and free drinks I felt a bit tummy unhappy, but that went away quickly. We went to a local place called Fergie's afterward. The staff there was awesome and the drinks were great. I was a bit tired and leaned my head against E's shoulder, realizing that it was so loud that the din had just become white noise. I nodded off a bit before E got up and socialized for a bit and then we were back to the hotel for the night.

We got a late start back home, and then managed to get going to go to Ian's 2nd birthday party, only to lock ourselves out. Thanks to my hot self, I had left an upstairs window unlocked and E was able to crawl in through the window. Said window is now locked and my keys are in my pocket. We made a late start to Gary's, but got there before the cake was consumed and the presents opened.

I got to meet a number of people that I had heard about for the past couple of years. Tara's father is indeed awesome. Gary's Aunt Sandy is amazing - clearly a family matriarch and let's everyone know it. Tara's sister won me over in about three seconds of meeting her, though she certainly lets on that she's the big sister.

Ian looks so big now. I can't believe how fast two years have gone by. He grabbed one of his candles from the cake - which had beautiful frosting and tasted amazing - scaring us all, because he grabbed it by the top. That kid is faster than lightning. He loved being sung to and asked us to do it again. He didn't quite get the idea of opening the gifts, but enjoyed them once they were out. Lots of neat stuff, including pop-up fish and a dancing Spiderman - that sings the itsy-bitsy spider and the spiderman song.

E juggled for Ian and his cousin, Jillian. He won over Jillian really fast and before we left she came over to him and leaned against him in the almost two year old fashion of a hug. It was adorable. She's a cute kid, though not nearly as outgoing as Ian. Amazing how different children can be.

We came home and the day hit me like a ton of bricks. I feel asleep on the couch, woke up, and watched part of The Two Towers with E. We went to bed somewhat early.

This morning we woke up and Jen and Clint came over to get the old bed. Thankfully Jen and Todd were able to take it and I know it went to a good home. Much better than a futon and it's a good size. We had fun trying to figure out how to secure it to the pickup truck.

The afternoon was a bit quiet. The old apartment set of my allergies and sent me into an attack, as well as a sinus headache. I took some benadryl, sending right into an uncomfortable antihistamine high. It was one of those strange times that it affected me badly and I went upstairs to ride it out. Jen and Clint came back while I was up there and I finally came back down to join them just before everyone started arriving for game.

We're back to D&D. Mora, my character, has gotten to the second level of dragon disciple and has gained the claw and bite weapons. She now has noticeable fangs and hides her hands in gloves. It doesn't help that they were transported to Ravenloft at the same time. Onward we go. I'm looking forward to doing more with her and finding out how our other party members grow.

The next two weekends are holidays, so we won't be gaming, but doing other things. Still haven't set up the tree, not really feeling it this year. I don't know why, because it's been a good year. Next Sunday will be fairly quiet, maybe a couple friends around, which will be nice. Saturday night we have a party to go to and from there - well, we'll see. Josh will be here for New Year's and talk of others coming over has been heard, though not definitely confirmed.

Tomorrow is setting up the bedroom as my vision has given me, and hopefully getting the tree up. I'm cooking dinner tomorrow, after telling E if he found my gaming dice I'd cook everyday for a month. Hopefully I won't kill him, maybe after a month I'll be considerably better.

I can't thank Sue enough for some of the things she ended up leaving behind. It's being put to good use and I can't say how much I appreciate these little things that I've never experienced before - simple things like a coffee press, or loose leaf tea, the body pillows, or the pretty table upstairs. The bookcases are so appreciated too.

So I'll end here, a short chronicle of my weekend. A week left, I hope I can find the spirit soon.
