I just saw Fangs off. He's taking the train to New York and staying a night there, then back to Wales with him.
I've had a good time over the past week and a half. I really would have liked to have more talk time with Fangs, but there's always email, irc, and, of course, future visits.
At moments the apartment has felt like Grand Central Station, now it just feels empty, like a road on Christmas day or a large storm. It's almost too quiet, but Robin and Murphy are here, and I'm sure they'll be happy to bug me.
So the job search begins. I think that I'll start a bit later and just go on from there. I wanted to get something part time for the holidays, but considering that we'll only be a way for thanksgiving, I don't see why can't get a full time now.
My goals for a job are:
1. A company hired job. I really hate temp agencies and would like to avoid them like the plague. I'd prefer to get a job direct through a company.
2. Something close by, preferably within walking distance. This will make life easier until I am able to get a car. If I can't find something within walking distance, perhaps something that's on one of the bus routes (remember the 94 bus route, maybe something promising that way).
3. Decent hourly pay. This would be $9 or more an hour. I really don't want to go under that, and more than that would be fantastic.
4. If I do go back to retail, I want it to only be a part time/seasonal gig. I do not want to be in sales for years again. I don't like selling stuff and I don't like most customers. Some things are best avoided.
That's all for the things I really want. There are some silly things, like flexible shifts and flexible sick time, which would make my life really easy. I am completely used to getting some place at a certain time and leaving at a certain time, but flex shifts make it easier not to be late. Sick time is always a godsend, especially with the screwed up thyroid. If I could find a data entry job that I could do from home, that would rock the house, then I could work from bed if I were really sick. I could be available almost anytime, all the time. My lap top is just a power supply away and my fingers are the most important body part at that point.
On this note, I'm falling asleep. I'm going to allow me to fall asleep for a bit and then I'll search my weary ass off.
Wish me luck!
